The Anaesthetic's Department at St George's University Hospital's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an excellent team player and clinician with experience to join our department as a Speciality Doctor.

Main duties of the job

The job plan will cover clinical activities on a flexible basis Monday to Friday, with the opportunity to develop a fixed list in the longer term with specialist interest.

It is envisaged that the post holder will cover up to a maximum of 12 programmed activities per week. Whilst there is no on call for this role, it is expected that the post holder will contribute to the department's weekend working requirements with a 1:8 Saturday and Sunday Plastic Surgery list which contributes 1PA to the job plan.

There will be opportunities to participate in audit, governance and management. The successful applicant will be assigned a mentor for support and there will be ample opportunity for personal development.

About us

The department of anaesthesia has diverse interests both surgically and geographically. The anaesthetic service is spread throughout 33 inpatient operating theatres in 3 wings, and there is a separate day unit with a further 5 theatres. Outside of theatres, the department is involved in interventional radiological services for cardiac, neurosurgical, endovascular and chronic pain services as well as MRI and CT scanning.

• MBBS or equivalent
• GMC Registration with licence to practise
• Primary FRCA or equivalent
