Located in the North East of Scotland, the city of Aberdeen is recognised as the oil capital of Europe but has managed to retain its old-fashioned charm and character making it an attractive place in which to live with easy access to the Grampian Highlands and Royal Deeside to enjoy the many out door pursuits available such as skiing, mountain climbing, golf and fishing. Aberdeen also offers easy links to other European cities and is only an one hour flight to London.

This is a general post with an interest in Chronic Pain Management based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (University Teaching Hospital) and at Woodend General Hospital where the Elective Orthopaedic surgery is based, a mile from the main Foresterhill site. The Chronic Pain service in Grampian is expanding to meet the growing demand from the surrounding population and provides a wide range of specialist interventional techniques and is currently developing a local Pain Management Programme.  The appointment is available on a whole-time or part-time basis. The post is available to candidates fulfilling the person specification, and the details of the job plans are open to negotiation between the successful applicant and the medical line manager.  The Anaesthetic Department is a large department based on one site providing a comprehensive Anaesthetic Service. The directorate includes the Main Theatres, the Day Surgery Unit as well as Intensive Care.

There is an Academic Unit led by Professor N Webster.

It is likely that the University of Aberdeen will accord the honorary status of Clinical Senior Lecturer.
