We are a large teaching hospital with Major Trauma centre, Regional neurosciences centre, Regional Oncology centre, Regional upper GI cancer surgery, Regional complex pelvic surgery and local lower GI surgery.
We are looking for a new team member to join us! To help Radiology as part of these tertiary referral and major trauma centre developments at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
Duties will include all those duties normally expected of a Specialty Doctor in a similar sized Radiology department in the United Kingdom;
The successful candidate will assist in providing services at both Royal Preston and Chorley & South Ribble Hospitals.
The new post holder may be expected to participate in the existing general on-call rota to be staffed at a 1 in 16 [consultant]; or 1 in 9 [registrar] frequency.

This post has arisen for a Specialty Doctor in Clinical Radiology at LTHTR, which is now needed to cover some of the identified service requirements arising as a result of expansion within in the Department.
LTHTR values extremely its Specialty Doctors and in a first of its kind in the UK, we have agreed and committed ourselves to provide all Specialty doctors joining the trust and those already working with us, a personal career progression pathway with support to become autonomous practitioners if they aspire to do so.
Any person who is unable to work full-time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered for the post and if appointed the job plan will be discussed on a personal basis in discussion with colleagues.

- Independent performance and interpretation of imaging studies in the following modalities: plain film, contrast studies, and ultrasound.
- Provision of Diagnostic Radiology Services to the standard of a Senior Specialist Registrar, with consultant supervision as necessary.
- Supervised interpretation of cross-sectional imaging studies, and supervised performance of nonvascular intervention. It is anticipated that the degree of consultant supervision required will gradually reduce as experience is gained.
