Liverpool University Hospitals wish to appoint Physician Associates to add to our well-established PA Team. We are looking for dynamic individuals with a flexible approach to work who possess excellent interpersonal & organisation skills, to work alongside our dedicated specialty teams. This role comes with rotating specialities but is a permanent long term post within the trust.

Individuals will be paid at ANNEXE 21 of a Band 7 post. This will then increase to a Band 7 salary following successful appraisal after 12 months in post.

PAs will be supported with a comprehensive induction, appropriate support in their new role, supervision & training. The trust employs a separate devoted PA team that focuses on the pastoral care, education and training, study leave and budget & yearly appraisals.

We champion PAs and are attempting to promote the role on a national level. Our dedication shows through the evolution of our PA workforce & the desire to tailor each individual PA to their specific needs.

There are now PAs established across a range of specialties & has allowed us to dedicate time & training to our PAs in order to place them permanently with their preferred team & specialty.

This internship is negotiable but we normally recommend at least one year to gain the full and diverse experience. Given how established the physician associates are throughout all three sites of LUHFT, we are able to offer a variety of placements which can be discussed upon successful appointment.

Main duties of the job

Physician Associates will be expected to work alongside junior doctors and nurses to help deliver high standards of care. Physician Associates will receive close supervision, teaching, training and mentorship to embed core skills, knowledge and competencies.

Physician Associates will provide expert assistance to Medical Workforce in their speciality and the wider multidisciplinary team, and will participate in all aspects of the team's activities as appropriate. They will be expected to perform delegated duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge and to assist in clinical teaching and supervision of colleagues and students.
