BSMHFT is one of the largest mental health Foundation Trusts in the country, providing mental health services to a culturally and socially-diverse population. The secure care and offender health programme provides community and inpatient forensic services for men, women and adolescents across the West Midlands.
We are seeking to recruit a part time locum consultant post to provide consultant input to the established regional Youth FIRST community Forensic CAMHS service covering the West Midlands.
Youth FIRST delivers high quality advice, consultation, assessment and intervention for young people with complex needs, as well as working in partnership with service users, their families and their systems across the region.
This post provides an exciting opportunity for clinicians who are skilled in working with young people with complex mental health and risk presentations, families and professionals from multiple agencies including mental health care providers, Social Care, Education, placement teams and professionals from the criminal justice system.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will perform the typical duties of a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Patient caseload will be equitable with those of Community Consultant colleagues within the service. Typical clinical duties include being involved in managing referrals with the clinical team, liaising with referrers and case managers and carrying out consultations and clinical assessments, in conjunction with other members of the MDT.
The post holder will be expected to provide consultant leadership within an experienced multi-disciplinary team including Psychiatry, Nursing, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, speech and language therapy and admin.
The post holder will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to service development. This is an exciting time to join the Ardenleigh Youth Services within the Secure Care directorate. The service is involved with the new CAMHS provider collaborative and the national community forensic CAMHS network, and the role has potential to evolve as new opportunities come up within the service.
About us
This is an opportunity to join a large, comprehensive forensic service, with a peer group of over 20 consultant forensic psychiatrists. Our Trust values are at the centre of all our work: compassionate, inclusive and committed.
Alongside clinical work, within the Trust and region there are also good opportunities to engage in research, quality improvement, teaching and CPD.
Post holders should be on the specialist register for Child and Adolescent psychiatry or be within 3 months of achieving this.
