Consultant in Epilepsy and General Neurology (8 PAs)
This is an exciting opportunity for a clinically qualified individual to work within the growing and dynamic neurology department at St George's Hospital.
St George's has a dedicated Epilepsy Service managing secondary and tertiary care epilepsy referrals from South West London and Surrey. The Epilepsy team also manage acute epilepsy referrals from St George's and run a thriving video-telemetry and Epilepsy Surgery service for the region. This is a replacement of a current part-time locum post with further expansion in the region. The post joins 3 other substantive consultants and 1 locum part-time consultant in the epilepsy service.

The post holder will contribute to all aspects of neurology at St George's including the Epilepsy OPD and Epilepsy referrals, General Neurology OPD and joining the Neurology Attending/Hospitalist rota.

Job responsibilities
- Working with the rest of the St Georges Epilepsy teams to deliver outstanding and cutting-edge care for patients with epilepsy disorders, including delivery of 2 epilepsy clinics per week.
- Participation in the in-patient epilepsy liaison service at St Georges (during working hours).
- Working with the Neurology Team in delivering excellent care to our patients, including delivering a General Neurology clinic at St Georges per week.
- The post holder will contribute to the Neurology ward Attending/Hospitalist service on weekdays on a rota basis.
- The post holder will be on call for the regional neurology service and will conduct a weekend ward round on the Regional Neurology Unit on Saturday and Sunday. Ordinarily this will be one or two weeks a year
- The post holder will have the opportunity (not compulsory) to be on call for the regional stroke service on weekdays out of hours only on a 1 in 12 rota. Weekend ward rounds for stroke are undertaken by the stroke service.
- Contributing to education of undergraduates and postgraduates including supervision of trainees in neurology.

- MB BChir or equivalent
- MRCP(or equivalent)
- CCT or equivalent (CESR / European Community Rights), or within 6 months of CCT in neurology
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee
- PhD in Neurology or related discipline
