Join the Urgent Primary Care team and be the GP you've always wanted to be!

We are seeking a number of enthusiastic GPs to work with us in salaried positions within the out of hours service. This job gives GPs variety and flexibility of work. Enjoy working a variety of shifts including base, home visiting and triage from 18.30 to 8am Monday to Friday and 24/7 at weekends and Bank Holidays.

We would welcome you to the multidisciplinary team of GPs, nurses, mental health practitioners, pharmacists and non-clinical staff within a supportive and progressive team.

Aneurin Bevan Health board is facing changes in light of clinical futures and there will be more integrated working with urgent care in emergency departments and medical assessment unit. This is an exciting time to be joining Urgent Primary Care.

This position involves Regulated Activity with children and adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:
  • Enhanced check with barred list information, including an adults and childrens barred list check

Applicants mustalready be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and be on the GMC GP Register

Qualifications
Essential
  • On the GMC GP Register*
  • On the Welsh GP Performers List* (WPL)
Desirable
  • Relevant Higher Degree e.g. MRCGP
Clinical Experience
Essential
  • Broad based experience in Primary Care
  • Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and participation in CPD
  • Competence in General Medical Services
  • Able to apply knowledge
  • Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills, including the use of telephone consultation
  • Meet the requirement of the GMC's Good Medical Practice
Desirable
  • Experience of NHS General Practice, including Out of Hours
  • Experience with local NHS Services
  • Evidence of above average performance
Clinical Governance
Essential
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
  • Comprehension of core philosophy and building blocks of Clinical Governance
Desirable
  • Knowledge of risk management
Research

  • Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence

  • Evidence of initiating, progressing and concluding research projects with publication
