Job Details

Applications are invited for an 8.25 PA Locum Consultant Paediatric Respiratory Paediatrician to be an integral part of the PRM team and to offer specific support to the LTV and sleep service at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will join a team of 5 Consultants. The post will involve service weeks covering respiratory and LTV inpatients.  Clinic commitments are to general respiratory, CF, LTV, Joint ENT and cleft lip and palate.  Support of the sleep service with reporting of oximetry, level 2 studies and PSG is also included as is bronchoscopy.

This is a new post created as part of the expansion of the whole MDT to support the demand of the growing LTV and sleep service.  Once recruitment is complete the team will be supported by 3 Consultants (of which this post is 1), 4 WTE CNS, 1 WTE OT, 3  Physiotherapists, 1 WTE play specialist, 1 WTE SLT, 1 WTE CSW, and 0.4WTE Social worker.  The existing team are well established and experienced, delivering a community based model which other center’s aspire to.

The post is a good balance of general and more specialised paediatric respiratory work.  Clinics will cover, in addition to LTV, CF, general respiratory, cleft lip and palate and joint ENT.  Service weeks will cover respiratory and LTV services with non-service weeks giving time for clinic work.  Diary examples are given.

Any consultant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work 8.25 PAs will be eligible to be considered for the post on a part-time basis; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
