Job overview

Make the smart choice of what’s important.  Come, live and grow where others go on holiday!

Join our multi-disciplinary Critical Care Team at Yeovil District Hospital.

As Yeovil District Hospital merges with Musgrove Park Hospital opportunities have arisen for 6 enthusiastic Intensive Care Consultants to join our Trust as we develop our critical care service and enlarge our team to enable us to achieve GPICS standards. This is an exciting opportunity for you to shape the service for the future.

We are absolutely committed to a healthy work life balance which we can offer you at whatever stage you are in your career, be it looking to reduce your working hours whilst changing your pace and priorities in life, or furthering your career whilst starting or raising a family in a phenomenally beautiful part of England.

We are also offering an enhanced and attractive relocation package for these roles, please contact us to discuss this.

Main duties of the job

Yeovil has a job plan that will suit you.  We actively encourage personal and professional development and funding for study leave is available.

Our role suits both dual accredited and single specialty intensive care physicians.  For dual accredited clinicians, clinical duties split between critical care and your parent specialty. While usually this is anaesthetics, we are very keen to accommodate other parent specialties, such as respiratory medicine, emergency medicine, acute medicine or others.

The intensive care medicine element of your role will be to provide comprehensive clinical care to patients requiring ICU / HDU services on our 11-bedded Critical Care Unit.

We are also offering 2.5 SPA per week to give you time to develop your ideas and career.

Working for our organisation

Yeovil District Hospital and Musgrove Park Hospital (Somerset NHS Foundation Trust) are currently in the process of merging to become one single Trust, offering combined health care service to the population of Somerset. Our aim is to offer harmonious patient and workforce experiences across both sites, offering the same standard of care to our patients.

Come and work in a friendly environment and live in the beautiful South West of England.  We have outstanding schools, spectacular countryside, excellent travel links to major cities and airports, as well as the beautiful Jurassic Coastline 30 minutes away.

We really value the impact that you as a Consultant will have on our patients and services; we therefore offer an enhanced benefits package (subject to criteria and contract length) which includes:

  • Welcome to Yeovil payment.
  • A generous relocation package.
  • 10 hours of paid time for professional development every week (2.5 SPA).
  • £700 personal budget for training and development every year.
