We would like to invite you to be a part of our exciting personnel and equipment expansion, including state of the art CT, PET-CT, hybrid interventional theatre, and a new 3T MRI scanner suite. This post has arisen as an additional requirement to support developments and expansion of service in Diagnostic Neuroradiology at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust covering both our sites: Royal Preston Hospital / Chorley District General Hospital.

There have been several major service developments recentlyincluding accreditation as a major trauma centre and designation as a tertiary vascular centre and this has highlighted an opportunity for an additional Consultant to join our regional neurosciences centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria.

This is a 12 month fixed term position with the possibility of a further extension.

Main duties of the job

The post will involve 10 programmed activities of imaging support (8 DPAs plus an indicative 1.5 SPAs) and will predominantly provide a comprehensive diagnostic neuroradiology service and will provide support for the 7 existing neuro-radiologists, three of whom perform neuro-intervention.

If successful, you would be expected to participate in a neuro-radiology on call rota with a 1:7 frequency (due to change to 1:8 from August 2021).

If you are unable to work full-time for personal reasons you will be eligible to be considered for the post and if appointed the job plan will be discussed on a personal basis in discussion with colleagues.

The adult Neurology department is staffed by 10 Consultant neurologists. There are also 2 paediatric neurologists who have links with Central Manchester Children's Hospital.

You will need to have a current GMC registration and should hold or be eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview.

About us

As you may know the Government passed legislation requiring vaccination as a condition of deployment which was due to come in from 1 April 2022. However on the 31Jan 2022 the Secretary of State has announced that this is being reconsidered. However, whilst we wait for further guidance, asa Trustwe have made the decision to continue to gather vaccine status during our pre-employment stagesshould you be made an offer, no offer would be conditional upon you having a vaccine but we need to make you aware that if the decision is taken by the government to implement mandated covid vaccines in the future then your employment may be at risk if you do not have these.

Vaccination against is the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and, of course, your patients from the virus. NHS England and NHS Improvement have always been clear that staff have a professional duty to be vaccinated.
