Mō te tūnga - About the Role

Due to impending maternity leave and planned retirement, Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) are seeking expressions of interest from qualified Anatomical Pathologists to join us in our laboratory at Christchurch Hospital. You will hold FRCPA or equivalent and will hold, or be eligible to gain, registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.

In this full-time role you will work alongside nineteen other Consultant Anatomical Pathologists, supported by a skilled team of laboratory scientists, administrative support, and seven registrars. We receive a wide range of specimens from all subspecialty areas and provide histology and cytology services across Canterbury and the West Coast, as well as a tertiary referral service and multidisciplinary team support for the South Island more broadly. We have access to a wide range of IHC stains, diagnostic molecular pathology (NGS and FISH) and surface marker flow cytometry techniques within CHL.

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated interest and experience in dermatopathology but mentoring will be available for a less experienced candidate who wishes to further develop this area of practice at the subspecialty level. The successful candidate will also be able to take part in other specialty teams and in particular, complementing our existing renal pathology team would be an advantage. There is no autopsy requirement and participation in (non-gynaecologic) cytology is optional.

Please note that applications made via an agency will not be considered.
