Have you just completed training or within 6 months of appearing on the Specialist Register? Or are you an established consultant wanting to relocate and live near the fantastic Gower coastline?

We are offering a Consultant post with Paediatric Neurology SPIN, based in Morriston Hospital, Swansea. You will be given1:1 mentorship support and opportunities to gain deeper understanding of NHS leadership mechanisms.

The Paediatric Services foster excellent values for patient care and offer outstanding postgraduate and undergraduate teaching opportunities. We have taken an active, innovative way to support the RCPCH standards of care for children and balance this with the wellbeing of newly appointed consultants. Swansea Bay is a University Teaching Hospital is allied to the highly ranked School of Medicine at the rapidly expanding Swansea University.

You will join a team of 16 consultants to develop and improve general paediatric services, expected to participate in the consultant on call rota and service week arrangements.

This is a 10 session post including 3 sessions for supporting professional activities

Main duties of the job

As a Consultant Paediatrician with a paediatric Neurology interest, you will work along side our current Consultant General Paediatric Consultant with Neurology SPIN and with our wider general paediatric service based in Morriston Hospital, Swansea.

Your role as part of a multi-disciplinary team will include responsibility for the provision of clinical care for children and young people focusing on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.

Essential

  • Registered with the GMC
  • Licensed to practice
  • On specialist register with GMC
  • CCT in Paediatrics or equivalent
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Further relevant degree

Experience
Essential

  • Evidence of an ability to develop effective working relationships, on an individual and multi-disciplinary basis with all levels of staff (Working Together)
  • Evidence of working with management and clinical colleagues to improve a service (Always Improving)
  • Values partnership with other agencies (Working Together)
  • Evidence of experience in respiratory paediatrics (Special interest (SPIN) module in Paediatric Neurology or equivalent experience)
  • Evidence of teaching and training of post/undergraduate clinical staff
  • Evidence of initiating, progressing and completing audit
  • Evidence of undertaking or participating in clinical research
