Job Enhancement Opportunities
If our excellent terms and conditions have attracted your interest and you would like to focus on a particular area (for example, you may wish to progress your career in management/leadership, paediatric emergency medicine, governance, education, research, quality improvement or even undertake a joint clinical role with another specialty) it may, depending upon your preference, be possible for us to facilitate this. Our Divisional Director, Dr Radcliffe Lisk, would welcome a discussion with you about this in the first instance.

In addition to this we are also including RCEM enhanced rates for evening out of hours work on weekdays and weekends. You will self-roster in consultation with colleagues to fill the agreed rota template. Once on the 14-person rota you will benefit from a 7 DCC/3 SPA job plan. Service Developments and Future Plans
Ashford and St Peter’s have worked tirelessly over recent years to invest and transform our emergency pathways. The Emergency Department is supported by some new outstanding facilities in the on-site Urgent Treatment Centre, Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit, and Clinical Assessment Unit. Work is currently underway to open a new Older Person’s Assessment Unit this year, and we are also focusing on developing and improving our acute medicine services, in part to enhance the support that we can offer to the ED and the UTC.
But no, we are not stopping there! We are shortly beginning the detailed planning of a £15 million capital investment in our Emergency Department. It is anticipated that the building work will begin 2023/24 and you could be part of designing the way that we work in the future so that we can bring all the latest technologies to the bedside where possible.
