Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT) invites applications for a fulltime Consultant Psychiatrist in CAMHS Crisis Team, providing comprehensive acute CAMHS across Coventry and Warwickshire.

CWPT provides Mental Health, Learning Disability and Community services to people living in Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull. Rated good by the CQC, the Trust is an organisation that is continuously improving and we welcome interest from individuals who want to make a difference.

We are looking for self-motivated, enthusiastic, forward thinking individuals who can work within the Trust and with partners to develop a dynamic, responsive and patient centred service.

This new post has arisen as a result of service expansion. It is a strategically important post, which will enable dedicated consultant input into acute community care and treatment, with the facility for rapid assessment of referred patients, flexible review of complex patients and timely discharge in liaison with Acute/ Community colleagues and/or General Practitioners.

The post holders will provide clinical leadership to a team delivering acute and urgent medical care for functional and organic community patients (up to the age of 18) who present with mental health crisis that may result in hospitalisation. They will also manage the home treatment of patients with a wide range of mental health problems in keeping with CAMHS 3.5 policy.

The post is based on a 10 PA job plan (7.5 PAs in Direct Clinical Care and 2.5 PAs in Supporting Professional Activities) with an out-of-hours on-call frequency of less than 1 in 10.

UK applicants must possess the appropriate qualifications (MRCPsych; CCT or equivalent), be on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry, have full registration and license to practice with the GMC. Applicants must also be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act and be eligible to be an Approved Clinician. Training or experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Acute or Urgent care settings would be advantageous.

This post is also open to International candidates. Criteria for consideration for the post for international candidates is as follows:

  • Post Graduate Qualification in Psychiatry (e.g. MRCPsych, FCPS, MCPS, MD in Psychiatry)
  • 3 years post graduate experience working in psychiatry
  • Candidate has been engaged in medical practice for three out of the last five years including all of the 12 most recent months at the point the application is made
