This is a 10 PA substantive post in our Inpatient Psychiatry Services in Peterborough. There is a generous recruitment premium attached to this post of £40K in addition to the standard relocation expenses.

This posts consists of 10 Programmed Activities (10 PAs) which includes 6 PAs of direct clinical care and 4 PAs for supporting activities and CPD.

The post holder will be responsible for the care of patients admitted to the assessment unit.

The Consultant will work with well-established services alongside other medical and non-medical colleagues. The appointed Consultant(s) will provide strong leadership to the teams and drive further service developments in acute care.

Junior doctor support in the form of Specialty Doctors, higher trainee or a core psychiatric trainee is provided.

The successful candidate will be working alongside Consultant colleagues in the North of the County. The post(s) will involve close working relationships with the modern matron, nurse specialists and team managers. There will be opportunities to take on management responsibilities both internally within the Trust as well as externally with the Royal College. Mentoring will also be provided to help the new Consultant settle in.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will provide Consultant leadership and psychiatric input to the assessment unit at the Cavell centre.

The post holder will work with the multidisciplinary team and establish good liaison and links with the community teams.

Four sessions are protected for special interest to be negotiated in job planning. These may include specific management or teaching responsibility or research.
