An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Department of Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine for 1 new Consultant Physician to work among 6 existing consultants. We would welcome applicants from holders of either Infectious Diseases/GIM or Infectious Diseases/Microbiology CST. You will work with colleagues on the inpatient Infectious Diseases Unit where there is a broad range of patients with imported, immunosuppressed and UK acquired infections. You will contribute to the General Infectious Diseases, Hepatitis B/C and HIV outpatient clinical service.
As this post is regulated by the Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice Courts Act 2000 and / or the Care Standards Act 2000 an enhanced police criminal records disclosure will be requested by the Trust in the event of a successful application.

Main duties of the job
You will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. You will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team. The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicestershire. It is fully committed to Continuing Medical Education for consultants.

You will be responsible for managing in-patients on the Infectious Diseases Unit (mix of imported, tropical, immunosuppressed, UK acquired infection and general cases) and participating on the Infectious Diseases on-call rota. Depending on the appointee’s interests, there is flexibility and potential to support the other Infectious Diseases Consultants who have responsibility for delivering the Hepatitis C network, adult HIV clinics and tuberculosis clinics. We would welcome applications and pre-application visits from Infectious Diseases/GIM, Infectious Diseases/Microbiology or Infectious Diseases/Virology CCT holders.
