We are seeking consultants with enthusiasm, commitment and drive to work closely with colleagues throughout the organisation and within the community to help lead the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity within the Haematology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The appointee will be part of a team of five consultants to plan, develop and provide haematology services for East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The post-holder will participate in the on call rota which is 1 in 5.The post will be based at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage with, out-reach clinics at other sites (QEII at Welwyn Garden city or Hertford county Hospital).

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic, forward thinking consultant to provide haematology services for the changing hospital environment.

• To provide care and support of haematology in-patients at the Lister hospital in conjunction with other members of the haematology team
• To provide an advisory service for haematology problems arising in non- haematology in-patients
• To participate in authorisation of haematology laboratory results including examination and reporting of abnormal blood films as well as performing Bone Marrow biopsies
