Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Pain Management. This replacement post aims to provide cover for Pain Management Services. Cross-site working will be expected by the Directorate to meet service demands and the post holder may be required to work at any site across the Health Board.

The Chronic Pain Service has 2.6 WTE consultants supported by psychologist and clinical nurse specialists.

Chronic Pain Services are provided across ABUHB sites and include face to face/remote consultations, interventional therapy, psychology and pain management programme.

Main duties of the job

The ethos of the service is in line with WAG guidance to facilitate self -management of chronic pain with multidisciplinary, patient centred care. Teaching opportunities are available for intermediate, higher and advanced trainees in pain medicine. COVID-19 has led to significant changes in service delivery and there is an exciting opportunity for developing the service in line with local and national guidance.

The post holder will undertake 8 DCC and 2 SPA sessions per week. Candidates are reminded of the Clinical Futures Programme and should expect agreed changes in their working patterns over forthcoming years.
