Emergency Department General Practitioner (EDGP)
Applications are invited for a GP to work alongside Emergency Medicine Colleagues
The contract will be a minimum of one shift per week and occasional weekend shifts. Shifts are 8 to 10 hours. The EDGPs will work a job plan to cover each day 1400-2200 or midnight.
Main duties of the job
- Work alongside existing Emergency Medicine Colleagues in the management of patients either self-presenting or arriving via ambulance.
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management
- Maintain currency in qualifications and training stipulated in the Person Specification for the post.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
- To actively participate in departmental matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
- Fulfil duties of weekly timetable/as job planned

Person Specification
Qu
Essential
- GMC with License to practice
- MBBS or recognised equivalent.
- Postgraduate membership qualification eg. MRCGP
- CCT in General Practice
- Listed on GMC GP Register.
Desirable
- APLS, ATLS
- MRCEM
Experience
Essential
- At least 12 months' NHS clinical experience.
- Teaching experience (Medical students, peers, MDT).
- Experienced in Clinical Audit / Quality Improvement and Clinical Governance; the benefits of how this improves the quality of care provided to patients and ensuring this is embedded in clinical practice.
- Minimum four months recent experience in Emergency Medicine.
Desirable
- 12 months recent experience in emergency medicine.
- Previous in-depth experience or qualification in teaching.
