The paediatric emergency department's fellow posts offer candidates an excellent opportunity to consolidate on their skills and knowledge, work within a supportive team and to develop their curriculum vitae by participating in audits, guidelines writing, teaching, and research/publications work.
Main duties of the job
Our paediatric emergency departments at Queen and King George's Hospital welcome a wide spectrum of paediatric medical and surgical presentations. Clinical care at the paediatric emergency departments is consultant-led. Our team consists of consultants paediatricians, registrars, paediatric trained nurses and nursery nurses, play therapists and advanced clinical practitioners.
About us
Our clinical care is based on guidelines, and we have a strong governance structure in our department with numerous audits, guidelines, posters and leaflets developed every year. Additionally, we have an active research program, and we are currently the lead site for the DIMPLE study.

Essential
- Registered medical qualification
- Registration with the GMC
- Completion of Pre- registration House Officer posts or equivalent
- An understanding of the audit process
- An understanding of CPD
- Pass a health screen
- Compliance with regulations for hepatitis
- Good communication, both in person and in writing
- Ability to work in a team
- Demonstrate sound judgement
Desirable
- Relevant postgraduate qualification ALS ATLS APLS/PALS
- Experience in specialties other than but relevant to Accident & Emergency
- Participation in audit projects
- Ongoing academic development
- Interest and/or experience in teaching
- Ability to read journals and critique articles
- IT skills
