Locum Specialty Doctor in General Surgery

FULL TIME (10 PA, including 1 SPA)

Fixed term for 12 months

Salary Scale - £994.62 per week based on 10 PAs as per pay circular PCS(DD)2021/02

NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint a locum Specialty Doctor in General Surgery to join our department.  This post will be offered on a full time or part time basis. The appointment will be subject to the terms and conditions of service for Specialty Doctors (Scotland) (2008). Applicants must have Membership of a UK Surgical College and have completed at least four years full time postgraduate training, at least two of which will be in General Surgery.

These posts will include involvement in planned surgical services as well as a contribution to unplanned care including a contribution outwith the normal working day as well as at weekends.   The successful candidates will be required to work on a full shift system.

It is expected, and will be encouraged, that the successful applicants will develop a sub-specialty interest that will compliment the present Consultants in the department. Currently the Directorate seeks to enhance Benign Upper GI, Laparoscopic Colorectal and Day surgery.

The successful applicants will be expected to provide a patient centred, high quality care with the help of the existing surgical team.  The successful applicants will be closely involved in clinical audit and clinical governance issues.
