Job Details

Applications are invited for the above substantive post. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidates to relocate to the Island of Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands.

Situated just 40 minutes flying time from London with excellent transport links to Europe the small beautiful Island of Jersey enjoys great weather, sandy beaches surrounded by soaring cliffs and offers a healthy work-life balance. Whether watching the sun set into the sea over a beach barbecue, dining out in Michelin starred restaurants or club or bar hopping is the end to your perfect day, Jersey has the ideal lifestyle and work environment. An exciting opportunity has arisen for the successful applicant to relocate to the Island.

This is a replacement post following the recent resignation of one our Consultant colleagues. The successful candidate will join 5 Consultant Anaesthetists. These include 3 Consultants with a specialist interest in ICM, 1 in General/Paediatric Anaesthesia, 1 in Pain Medicine and 1 in full time Pain Medicine. We are supported by 2 Associate Specialists and 9 Staff Grade anaesthetists. On call commitment is a non-resident 1 in 6 (1 PA fixed time off in lieu given with additional 0.5PA to be taken flexibly to account for 1:5 pro rata on call).

The department provides Anaesthetic cover for a wide range of surgical disciplines and will thus offer an interesting and varied clinical commitment. This is a truly exciting time for the Anaesthetic Department and a great opportunity to help develop and continue to deliver first class health care to the island of Jersey.

Full travelling expenses are paid from a UK port of entry, with a generous relocation package available and the appointee may take advantage of Jersey taxation policies. The post attracts residential qualifications and Jersey has excellent affordable private education for children. Under Jersey Law, applicants must possess FULL registration with the General Medical Council and hold a licence to practise.

The States of Jersey is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people (to include children) and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As this position will work with vulnerable people, the selection process will involve safeguarding measures and include an enhanced DBS check.

If you would like to discuss the post informally or arrange a visit please contact: Dr Caroline Jenkins, Clinical Lead for Anaesthesia by telephone on 01534 444263 or via email on
