Medicine and the care we offer our patients is changing with the genomic revolution. NHSE has commissioned a Genomic Medicine Service (GMS) which brings together the establishment of the North Thames Genomic Medicine Service Alliance and the North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub; working with all healthcare providers in our geography – North London, and parts of Essex and Hertfordshire.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Darzi Fellowship to work with the Senior Management teams in leading the GMS in our quest to mainstream genomic medicine. The post advertised here is specifically for someone interested in the application of genomics to cancer and will provide experience in developing and delivering a new service and networking with a wide range of professionals – key skills for future medical leadership roles.
Advances in molecular genetics means there is now technology available in high throughput laboratories enabling clinical scientists to process samples and provide results which are more detailed. Such information can help services to better manage patients and help to transform healthcare for maximum patient benefits, including for all children with cancer or children who are seriously ill with a likely genetic disorder.
