Cardiology Devices Fellow (ST3+level) post in Cardiology.

This post is a new appointment based in the Cardiology from Wednesday 3rd August 2022 for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

This is a 12 month post with an option to extend for a further 12 months subject to satisfactory performance and progression. It is not a training grade post but it is expected that the post holder will develop additional skills and experience in cardiology to enable them to secure a training post in the future.

The successful applicant would be expected to have 2-3 clinics per week under the supervision of a devices consultant. In addition, they would attend the lab and implant both bradycardic and complex devices. They would help on the ward and contribute to SpR ward cover. They will be expected to contribute to local and national audit, MDT and M&M meetings.

The arrhythmia and device service is rapidly growing with 4 full time complex implanters. This year we will have implanted approximately 150 CRT devices and 75+ ICDs including subcutaneous ICDs. Furthermore, we are also performing His bundle pacing, venoplasty and tunnelling of leads.

Currently electrophysiology procedures are carried out at the local tertiary centres with one consultant having a session a week at the Bristol Heart Institute. There is a bimonthly EP MDT/clinic with visiting consultants form the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford. There are plans for an electrophysiology service at Gloucester Royal Hospital in the near future.

There is no on call commitment.
