About the Position
In the role of Consultant Physician Geriatrics, you will provide clinical Geriatric Services to the South West (SW) Region of Western Australia. You will take a lead role in the development and delivery of Day Therapy, Rehabilitation in the Home and a Rehabilitation/Restorative Care Unit at Bunbury Hospital, as well as the provision of Ortho-geriatric services and Rehabilitation services to Busselton Hospital. The service encompasses both inpatient and community-based services across the region and works with the SW Regional Aged Care Team including the Aged Care Assessment Team.
About the Region
Bunbury Hospital is a 171-bed public facility co-located with a similarly sized private hospital St John of God Health Care which forms part of the South West Health Campus. Opened in 1999, it is the biggest hospital and health care complex in regional Western Australia. It delivers health care to more than 80,000 of the region’s local residents as well as visitors.
The South West region is located in the south-west corner of the state, facing the Indian and Southern Oceans. It shares its eastern boundary with Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions. It covers an area of 23,998 sq. km, has 12 local government areas and a diverse geographic profile ranging from rugged coastline and beaches to agricultural landscapes. The economy is based around tourism, mining and construction, retail and agriculture. Bunbury, and the South West of Western Australia are blessed with abundant opportunities for outdoor activities, minimal traffic but still many services as well as unique and extraordinary sights in one of the most beautiful coastal areas of Western Australia.
Attractive Remuneration Package
The salary as per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2016: Shown as Fixed Term Full time (80 hours per fortnight).
MP Year 1-9 $360,328 - $457,961 p.a. pro rata*
*Includes Arrangement A base salary $296,757—$385,515 p.a. pro rata, professional development allowance $30,814.p.a. and 10% employer contributed superannuation.
