Locum Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine with a special interest in Anaesthesia (or any other relevant specialty)

United Lincolnshire Hospital Trust have vacancies for full-time Consultants in Intensive Care Medicine. Consultants will be allocated a base site, either at Lincoln County Hospital or Boston's Pilgrim Hospital, but will be required to operate flexibly across both sites. The duties include supporting the intensive care rota in line with the Intensive Care Society guidelines on the provision of Intensive Care service (GPICS).

Main duties of the job

The Critical Care Unit staffed by the Department of Critical Care on a 10 consultant ICM rota, consultants have no other commitments when on call for ICU either within or out of hours. Anaesthesia services are provided by a completely separately staffed rota. Daytime DCC ICM working is equally divided between long 08.00-21.30 and short 08.00-16.00 days 7 days/ week. The unpredictable out of hours ICM Consultant Oncall rota is on a 1:10 weekday and weekend night basis and is job planned as annualised prospective cover. The on-call supplement is 3%.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

  • Eligible for entry/entered on the specialist register of the General Medical Council in Anaesthesia.
  • FRCA/FFICM or equivalent
  • CCT in Anaesthesia or equivalent

Desirable

  • Higher/acamedic qualification
  • Dual/Joint CCT in Anaesthesia and ICM (or equivalent)
  • DICM(UK) or European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine
  • Membership of ICS

Experience
Essential

  • Training and experience in ITU compatible with intermediate training in Intensive Care Medicine.

Desirable

  • Advanced level of experience in ICU
  • Dual accreditation in anaesthesia and intensive care
  • Experience at Consultant level within the NHS
  • Utilisation of IT in clinical practice

Governance
Essential

  • An understanding of clinical governance and clinical effectiveness
  • Willingness to work as a member of the teams and to share administrative responsibility
  • Compliance with appraisal, job planning and revalidation

Desirable

  • Familiarity with issues of service organisation an development
  • Some administrative experience
