Health and Social Care, Northern Ireland

Northern Health and Social Care Trust

We invite applications to join the Consultant team within our friendly, forward-looking Obstetrics and Gynaecology department. The Northern Trust operates two acute general hospitals: Antrim Hospital and Causeway Hospital in Coleraine - both are linked as teaching hospitals to Queen’s University Belfast and the NI Deanery (NIMDTA) for training medical students and trainee doctors.

We are seeking to appoint 2 full-time (10PA) Consultants to our team of 15 Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultants within the Women, Children and Families Division:

• Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist (2 posts)

Post 1 - Causeway Hospital / Trustwide

Post 2 - Causeway Hospital / Trustwide

The successful candidates will be General Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, and are expected to possess, or be willing to develop, a special interest to complement the needs of our services. Inpatient services are delivered on both acute hospital sites, with outpatient and day surgical activity provided across the Trust in Whiteabbey, Magherafelt, Ballymena and Larne.   A Consultant of the week model is used to provide high quality safe obstetric and acute gynaecological care.  Ambulatory gynaecology services are well established in the trust and operating theatres provide facility for advanced minimally invasive operative procedures.  We are proud to have been cited as a leading provider of postgraduate training by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  We are looking forward to a period of innovation and improvement driven by the Trust’s Renewing our Vision project and substantial capital investment that will provide new modern facilities for the communities we serve.

A waiting list may be compiled for permanent/temporary Consultant vacancies arising in the Department within the next 6 months.
