Salaried GP (Up to 8 sessions) - St James Medical Centre

We are looking for an enthusiastic GP to join our Practice GP Team. We are centrally located in the heart of the County Town and close to all facilities and amenities – we even overlook the Somerset County Cricket Club ground. Rail links and the M5 motorway are nearby, as are Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Exmoor National Park.

We run personal lists to promote continuity of care and workload equity. We are a thriving Practice with over 17 700 patients and in addition to our main site, we also have a modern purpose-built Branch Surgery in nearby Norton Fitzwarren. With this in mind, high on our agenda is to achieve a sensible work life balance by maintaining good investment in all the key roles, plus the potential for some flexible working , including a proportion of home based activity.

The GP Team is very well supported, resulting partly from the very active Taunton Central Primary Care Network and we enjoy excellent relations with the other 4 practices in the group. We benefit from an extended range of health care professionals and administrators. Patients have direct access to Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Mental Health Workers, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Advance Care Practitioners. We also benefit from Occupational Therapists, Care Coordinators for Cancer Care, Care Homes, and Disadvantaged Groups.

Last but most certainly by no means least, is the support you will have from Chronic Disease Nurses, Clinical IT Performance, Medical Secretaries to include a PA role, our 20 strong Patient Services Team and staff taking care of correspondence workflow to try and keep GP admin manageable.

We like to think that we are a hard-working personable bunch of colleagues and tuned into GP and staff needs. We are a longstanding GP Training Practice for GPs and Nurses and usually have a couple of St Registrars and a F2 doctor. We are trying to get back to pre-covid socialising!

A starting date is flexible. We have need of maternity cover, so you could join us straight away or we can timetable things to meet any existing commitments you may have. We really look forward to hearing from you
