We are seeking high calibre, enthusiastic doctors to join our team at Altnagelvin Area Hospital, in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

Altnagelvin Area Hospital is an acute hospital, which offers a range of services, including a 24-hour Accident and Emergency Department and has one of two Northern Ireland’s designated cancer centres. It has 472 inpatient beds and 36 day case beds.

Altnagelvin Area Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment programme and information regarding location of services, specialty wards will be subject to change over the lifetime of the project.

Transport links and infrastructure continue to improve with development of roads and rail connections. City of Derry airport is now flying to London (Stanstead), Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide optimum quality of effective and efficient breast surgery services within the contract resources available to Western Health and Social Services Trust. To provide specialist breast surgery to meet the needs of the population.

JOB ROLE
To share in the collective responsibility for the provision of the services for patients within the Breast Surgery Department. To provide leadership within their own speciality team. To contribute to the development of excellence in clinical practice through research, audit and undergraduate and postgraduate training.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The prime responsibility is for patient care, best diagnosis, and team leadership. The successful applicant will also be involved in clinical governance, education and training.
