Locum Consultant in Care of the Elderly

Hours: Full-time Job Type: Fixed-term - 1 year

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Trust are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the care of the elderly team at the BRI.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the care of complex, frail elderly patients on our re-established Older Persons Assessment Unit plus our core care of the elderly wards. The post holder will ideally have a special interest in patients with movement disorders. The job plan will include at least one outpatient clinic per week for patients with movement disorders.

Job responsibilities

Our friendly and dynamic team consists of 12 consultants and we have established services in movement disorders, ortho-geriatrics and bone health. We also have newly established and rapidly developing services in front door frailty and cardiology liaison (PULSE). We also have close links with the University of Bristol for those that are interested in education or research.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential

  • Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in relevant specialty
  • Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision

  • Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust's service strategy

  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or
  • Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview or
  • Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or evidence of within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview
