This role has recently been incentivised as a hard-to-recruit role and now offers additional Recruitment and Retention premiums for the successful candidate as below:

£10,000 Golden Hello payment paid on appointment.

£5,000 Retention premium paid at the end of 12 months in employment.

£5,000 Retention premium paid at the end of 24 months in employment.

Relocation expenses up to £8,000 (subject to conditions and eligibility criteria, outlined within the Trusts relocation policy).

Applications are invited to apply for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a replacement post offering 10 programmed activities. Additional programmed activities may be available, subject to annual discussion and agreement and do not form part of the underlying contractual agreement.

You will be part of a five Consultant Respiratory Medicine team responsible for inpatient and outpatient care of Respiratory and General Medical patients and have necessary skills to provide Acute Care, Thoracoscopy and Endobronchial Ultrasound. You will have responsibility for a quarter of the Respiratory bed base of 58 beds, and cross cover your colleagues as and when required. You will be a part of the General Medical on call at 1 in 22 frequency. You will have the opportunity to develop an interest in lung cancer, thoracoscopy, endo-bronchial ultrasound, and other interventional procedures. You will be expected to provide specialist respiratory consults in Acute Medicine, Critical Care and in other specialties. An interest and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and delivery of undergraduate curriculum for University of Buckingham Medical School will be expected, encouraged and duly supported. The hospital is the premier teaching hospital for the newly created University of Buckingham Medical School. The first students graduated in 2019 and currently all years of medical students are being taught at the hospital. There are significant opportunities in the field of medical education both in the delivery and organisation of teaching. A teaching and research background would be highly advantageous when applying for this position.
