Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialist interest in Diabetic foot and ankle surgery. The consultant in the new post would join the established team of 24 consultant surgeons at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will provide orthopaedic and fracture services for Hull, East Yorkshire and the surrounding area.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant would be expected to work within a well-established Diabetic foot service in the trust besides participating in the General Trauma and Orthopaedics on call rota. The Diabetic foot service is Multi-disciplinary team consisting of Vascular surgeon, Diabetic medical specialist and Podiatrist. Elective surgical operating is based at Castle hill hospital while trauma work is carried out at Hull Royal Infirmary, which is designated as a Major Trauma Centre. The day surgery units are located at both castle hill and Hull Royal sites while inpatient elective operating is based at Castle hill hospital. You will share the department’s beds and facilities, taking a share of the trauma workload along with other consultants.
To succeed you must have undergone extensive clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Orthopaedic Surgery, hold your CCT (or entry expected within 12 months), and have the ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems, both emergency and elective, within the speciality.
