Post Grampian CAMHS, (based at Links Unit, City Hospital Aberdeen)
We are excited to be inviting applications for a full time CAMHS Consultant post in NHS Grampian. Candidate can be based at the CAMHS Links Unit, near Aberdeen beach.  Candidates will be supported and fairly considered for remote working.

This post offers variety with an opportunity to work within NHS Grampian multidisciplinary CAMHS Team who offer a wide range of evidence based treatments for children and young people aged 0-18 years with severe and complex mental health needs. 

Grampian CAMHS is a dynamic forward looking service offering tier 3 and 4 service along with strategic involvement in the development of the tier 2 and 1 services across three local authorities working closely with partner agencies. The post has the potential to offer considerable room for personal development as well as development of specialist interests both with in Grampian but also in the North of Scotland Region.  

The appointee will be expected to contribute to clinical governance and to the overall management of the clinical service by representation of medical perspectives at different local and national fora. There is a full range of hosted MH and LD specialist services on site including Adult Mental Health, Old Age Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Liaison Psychiatry and Substance Misuse. The service has fully accredited schemes for Foundation, Core and Specialty Training in Psychiatry including higher training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The appointee will be expected to register with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. There are excellent opportunities for research with the University of Aberdeen.   

The post is advertised as whole time. Candidates unable to work whole time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered for a post and, if appointed, an appropriately amended job description will be agreed.   

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).  Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).    

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.  Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made.
