Locum Consultant Physician in Acute and General Medicine with a Specialty Interest

Whipps Cross Hospital

Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for a full time Consultant Physician in Acute and General Medicine to fulfil a 12-month fixed term post. You will be joining a department that currently has 10 Consultant Acute Physicians. The post holder will have the option of a specialty interest.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and to develop new models of working and services that support all patients attending the hospital and within the local community. We are building a new hospital as part of the Government's new hospital programme so this is an exciting opportunity to play a role in developing the services and department of the future.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practise.

Informal discussions and visits are encouraged and should you have a specialty interest, advanced discussion as to whether this would fit within the clinical framework of Whipps Cross University Hospital is strongly recommended. At this time, we are unable to accommodate nephrology as the specialty interest. Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • MRCP or Equivalent Specialist qualification
  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice
Desirable
  • Evidence of participation in research (peer reviewed publications etc.)
  • A higher degree (MD,PhD)
Clinical Experience
Essential
  • Higher specialist training in Speciality Interest and G(I)Medicine or Acute Medicine
  • Broad experience in Speciality and G(I)M/Acute Medicine
  • Current ALS certificate
Desirable
  • Ability to organise and deliver a teaching programme
  • Experience in Ambulatory care.
Knowledge
Essential
  • G(I)M and of the specialist skills required for this post
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients
  • Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to life-long learning
Skills
Essential
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of supervising medical staff
  • Ability to teach medical students and junior medical and nursing staff.
