Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in EP and devices. The successful applicant will join a team of 20 Consultant Cardiologists. They will contribute to a comprehensive consultant-led secondary and tertiary cardiology service.  They will have broad experience in all aspects of clinical cardiology, with sub-speciality expertise in cardiac electrophysiology and complex pacing.  The appointee will participate in the cardiology on-call rota along with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.

 The post has been configured to deal with increasing demand on the Cardiac Rhythm Management service, to assist with the emergency pathway, to support the cardiology contribution towards meeting the 4 hour ED target, as well as performing procedures.

To provide consultant-lead Cardiology care for patients in Nottingham and the surrounding region with a particular focus on general Cardiology and sub-speciality Electrophysiology and Complex Device implantation. A contribution to on call for emergency cardiology is required. This post involves the supervision of medical trainees of all grades and medical students. The appointee will lead clinical teams including nurses and other allied health professionals. They will report to the Head of Service for cardiology and will be required to maintain professional registration with the GMC.

Nottingham University Hospitals Trust is a large university teaching hospital serving a local population of 675,000, tertiary population of 1.3 million. The emergency department based on the Queens Medical Campus is one of the busiest in Europe with over 4000 patients per annum admitted with cardiac chest pain. The cardiologists actively manage many of these patients in collaboration with medical colleagues and there are well developed pathways of modern cardiac care. The department is fully supported by a large experienced technical service offering a wide range of investigations including trans-thoracic and trans-oesophageal echocardiography, stress echo and cardiac MRI. Tertiary cardiac services are undertaken in the Trent Cardiac Centre on the Nottingham City Campus.
