About our hospital, the role and our team

We are looking for a caring and motivated Consultant Radiologist to join our multidisciplinary team on the beautiful Isle of Man, where we are aiming to become the best small Island-based health and care system!

If you would like to achieve a fantastic work-life balance with a professionally satisfying job, then this could be the role for you!

You will be a general radiologist on the specialist register (or be on the specialist register within 6 months of application submission date). Experience in the desired sub-specialities would complement the existing consultant mix, however, all sub-specialities will be considered.

You will be supported by the Radiology Manager, Radiographers and clinical and clerical support staff, and you’ll report to the Clinical Director of the care group.

Opened in 2003, Noble’s Hospital is the Island’s only District General Hospital, situated on the outskirts of Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man. It is equipped to the very latest standards with a total complement of 271 beds; the site also houses a combined education and training centre equipped with a comprehensive library, study rooms, lecture theatre and a state of the art simulation suite.

Visits to the hospital would be welcomed from interested candidates; please contact Kathleen McDowall, Radiology Manager, on 01624 650432 or Kathleen.McDowall@gov.im to discuss this further.

What can this role offer me?

By joining us you’ll be stepping away from NHS pressures and demands, as the Island’s healthcare system is similar but separate to the UK NHS.

We strongly encourage personal and professional development, and you will have access to our in-house Education and Training Centre with a simulation suite and library. We recognise the need for all medical staff on the Island to maintain connections with medicine in the United Kingdom, and we provide generous study Leave with pay and expenses to attend approved conferences and workshops.

About the Island and relocating

Here you can enjoy a fantastic quality of life, and an excellent work-life balance! There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities; so if you like walking, mountain biking, sailing or kayaking, you’ll have lots of places to explore!

There are also lots of great cafes, bars and restaurants, and you can enjoy the Island’s real sense of community. The island is well connected to the UK, and you’ll also benefit from low income tax rates (20% maximum rate).

If you are relocating or returning to the Island, you can also benefit from the Insurance Holiday Scheme, which allows you to apply for a refund on your NI contributions for your 1st year of living here. To see how this scheme could benefit you, and to find out more about relocating to the Isle of Man, visit www.locate.im

A relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month. This role also qualifies for a recruitment incentive of £3,000, payable in the 1st, 13th, and 25th months of employment.
