Applications are invited to join a post based at Kettering general hospital as a full time/part time Consultant Radiologist. A sub-specialist interest in neuro-imaging and head and neck imaging is preferred. We undertake in excess of 240,000 examinations per year. The directorate's main x-ray department offers the usual range of examinations and modern equipment. The main department boasts DR, CR, a DR Interventional Suites, two MRI scanners, two CT scanners, one gamma camera, and dedicated Obstetric and general Ultrasound Departments. The Trust is the county centre for PPCI and has 3 Cardiac Cath Labs. The Trust currently has a GE PACS and is part of the EMRAD Consortium. We are a part of University hospitals of Northamptonshire group.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must hold FRCR or equivalent and be fully registered with the GMC and either be on or within 6 months of entry onto the Specialist Register on the date of interview.Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is an Acute District Hospital providing a service to approximately 340,000 people with 560 beds.Kettering is at the heart of the UK's largest growth area outside London. Qualifications
Essential

  • Basic Medical Qualification (MB ChB/MBBS or equivalent). FRCR or equivalent.
  • Certificate of Specialist Training in Radiology (or be within 6 months of its award at time of Advisory Appointment Committee).

Desirable

  • Additional undergraduate or postgraduate qualification.
  • Research leading to presentations and/or publications.

Training
Essential

 

  • Evidence of completion of a recognised training programme offering wide radiological experience.
  • To be on the GMC Specialist Register as a Radiologist or to be eligible for GMC specialist registration within 6 months at the time of the Advisory Appointment Committee.

Experience
Essential

 

  • Extensive experience in general radiology including plain film interpretation, ultrasound, CT, fluoroscopy and MRI.
  • Competency in high volume reporting and reporting for MDT meetings

Desirable

 

  • Experience of working within the UK NHS.
  • Experience in Nuclear medicine Imaging, Spect CT
  • Additional special radiological interest and expertise in Cardiac Imaging, Neurological Imaging, Gynaecological Imaging, Paediatrics MSK or Head and Neck imaging

Teaching
Essential

 

  • Interest in teaching medical undergraduates, radiology and non-radiology junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.

Desirable

 

  • Experience of teaching.
