Community Health and Eyecare (CHEC) are the largest provider of community ophthalmology services in the UK, delivering thousands of outpatient appointments per year.

Established in 2012 as a provider of NHS eyecare outside the hospital setting, we continue to grow across the UK.

Due to our services being more in demand than ever before we would like you to join us operating across the UK in Cataract and Surgical Centres.

The post holder will be required to perform a range of ophthalmology procedures on patients referred to the Surgical Centre and provide supervision of the provision of adult community ophthalmology services delivered by healthcare professionals, working in accordance with CHEC treatment protocols and working practices. The post will include clinical session at CHEC Surgical Centres in different locations.

Day to day, the post holder will deliver high quality clinical care to patients attending the community ophthalmology service in the following areas:

  • General Ophthalmology
  • Phacoemulsification under topical anaesthesia.
  • Glaucoma services
  • AMD
  • Laser treatment
  • Minor eye surgeries

To continue with our support for the NHS, we are looking for experienced cataract surgeons and general ophthalmologists of all grades to undertake consultation clinics and cataract surgery across the range of services we offer. Applicants will be expected to have an excellent clinical quality record and be able to demonstrate the ability to perform efficiently in clinics/theatre. Applicants will also need to demonstrate commitment to excellent teamwork. The post holder will have the opportunity to review their job plan with the Medical Director at least annually.

Day to day you will deliver high quality clinical care to patients attending the community ophthalmology service (new patients, follow ups, glaucoma reviews), as well as perform minor eye surgery, YAG capsulotomies and cataract surgery.
