About the role and our team

Join our small, friendly, forward-thinking and dedicated team in the Pathology department within Manx Care as a Consultant Histopathologist.

This vital job offers a unique, rewarding and diverse environment to work, that comes with an island setting. You’ll be based in a district general hospital laboratory setting and get perform a range of specialist investigations due to our island location.

You'll have the opportunity to help the Department work towards UKAS accreditation and the future strategy for cellular pathology services on the Isle of Man.

To join the team, you will ideally have wide experience in general histopathology including skin, breast, head and neck, lung, gastrointestinal, urological and gynaecological pathology. Due to the location of this post, you must have also completed the post mortem component of FRCPath or be able to demonstrate your expertise in this area.

There is no requirement for gynaecological cytology reporting in this post as present but wide experience in reporting non-gynaecological cytology specimens including breast, lymph node, head and neck, serous fluids, respiratory and gastrointestinal brushings are essential. You will also have the opportunity to lead specific MDT meetings that are of special interest to you.

To apply for the role, you need to have full and specialist registration, with a licence to practice, with the GMC. Those in the UK should hold a CCT, or be within 6 months of award of CCT by the date of interview. Non-UK applicants will be required to demonstrate equivalent training for registration with the GMC. You also will hold the FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent training and expertise.

About the Island and relocating

A relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
