Hours: Part time - 8 sessions per week

Applications are invited for an 8 PA Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust. In conjunction with the current Ophthalmology team, the surgeon will be responsible for delivering the ophthalmic service at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The main duties of the post will include participation in oculoplastic and general paediatric ophthalmic outpatient clinics and operating lists, working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, taking an active part in trainee development, and working to enhance the delivery of the service through structured Quality Improvement.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the largest centres in the world for the treatment of orbital and peri-orbital lympho-venous and vascular malformations. The successful applicant will be expected to have experience in supporting interventional radiology and dermatology services in the optimal management of children and young persons with orbital vascular malformations. Similar experience in supporting tertiary craniofacial, plastic surgical and oncology services in the management of children with complex disorders involving the orbit and ocular adnexae is essential. 

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust is a postgraduate teaching hospital, linked with the Institute of Child Health (ICH).

The successful candidate must possess full GMC registration, FRCOphth (or equivalent), and be on the specialist register for Ophthalmology (CCT or equivalent), or within 6 months of award of CCT (or equivalent) by date of interview.
