Applications are invited for this exciting post in a major tertiary cardiac centre in South Wales. The fellow will undergo extensive sub-specialty training in diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology including the modern management of cardiac arrhythmias, radiofrequency ablation, implantable defibrillators and complex pacing for arrhythmias and heart failure.
This post is available from 1st August 2022 for an initial period of 12 months, with a possibility of extension and is suitable for a candidate with MRCP (or equivalent). An NTN in Cardiology (or equivalent) is required, with broad experience in general and interventional cardiology, including operating independently when performing and high levels of experience in pacemaker implantation as a first operator.
The post is ideally suited for a person in or approaching their last 2 years of training who wishes to pursue a career in cardiac electrophysiology. The successful candidate would be the senior trainee with access to 4 EP lab days a week and would have no in office hours on call commitments
Morriston Hospital provides tertiary cardiac services including cardiac surgery to a population of 1 million in South West Wales. There are three catheter/EP laboratories and a separate pacing lab. Large volumes of conventional and complex ablation take place, together with ICD and biventricular pacemaker implants. The on-call rota is 1:11 inclusive and is New Deal and EWTD compliant.
