Swansea Bay University Health Board is transforming its acute medical services and applications are welcomed to appoint Geriatricians to deliver a new model of integrated care for older people living in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot. These posts will be based in our acute hospitals; however, you will have dedicated community sessions working as the "Cluster Geriatrician" within one of the Health Boards eight GP clusters. £1.2 million has been invested in creating a multidisciplinary team to deliver this innovative model.
The Health Board is undergoing a major service change and Morriston Hospital will become the centre of excellence for urgent and emergency care, complex care and regional surgery. Medicine for older people is a key priority. The geriatric department is rapidly expanding with 4 new Consultant appointments in the last 12 months to help deliver our acute frailty services including same day emergency care for older people, ortho-geriatrics and perioperative medicine for older people undergoing surgery.
The geriatricians participate in the unselected medical on call rota. The department has a strong commitment to undergraduate and post graduate education and close links to the medical school in Swansea University.
Swansea is in South Wales which is a great place to live and work. The stunning Gower Peninsula is on your door step. Outdoor activities are a plenty with easy access to the Brecon Beacons National Park and unspoilt beaches of Pembrokeshire. There are good links to Cardiff and London via rail and the M4 motorway. There is excellent state schooling.

You could also be eligible for a generous £10k relocation package.
