The successful candidate will work as a multidisciplinary team member in the assessment and management of patients on the inpatient mental healthcare wing (Addison Unit), in the outpatient clinics and on the prison wings.
Main duties of the job
Wandsworth Prison is a busy local remand prison with a current operational capacity of approximately 1450 places. Previous experience of working in a prison or other forensic settings is not essential, as a thorough local induction and training package will be provided.
The successful candidate will gain a huge wealth of clinical experience, and will be highly supported by a large team of psychiatrists, including two consultant forensic psychiatrists, and an ST forensic psychiatrist. They will be accompanied by a second specialty doctor in psychiatry working across mental health and substance misuse services.
The post-holder will have ample opportunity to gain experience in teaching medical students on a regular basis and in conducting QI and research projects. They will be encouraged to attend the weekly SLAM forensic clinical academic teaching programme.
We look forward to hearing from prospective candidates / future colleagues either by phone or in person for an informal chat and visit.
