This post is a combined post covering two services (8 sessions in total made up of 6 DCC PAs and 2 SPA PAs).

The post will include 0.4 WTE input into the CASTT service for adult service users with diagnoses of Personality Disorders, and 0.4 WTE into the Moorlands CMHT.

Main duties of the job

The Post Holder will provide clinical input to community service users that will include diagnostic/ formulation assessments, pharmacotherapy reviews, risk assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary case reviews.

The Post Holder will contribute to team supervision and will be encouraged to develop psychotherapeutic skills with the option to maintain a therapy caseload.

The Post Holder will not care coordinate service users, this being undertaken by non medical colleagues in the team.

The Trust employs approximately 30 Consultant Psychiatrists in a range of specialties. Our Trust provides specialist Mental Health (adult and old age), Addiction (inpatient, and community in North Staffordshire only), Neuropsychiatry and Learning Disability, and tier 3 Child Psychiatry Services across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire. We also provide specialist tier 4 inpatient children's services on a wider regional basis. North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust has an annual budget of over £70 million, and serves a population of nearly half a million people with a (Mental Illness Needs Index MINI 0.926 on average). It employs over 1500 members of staff (whole time equivalents including both support and clinical) and operates across approximately 30 sites with the main hospital being the Harplands hospital.

Job responsibilities
 

  • Working in conjunction with the team manager and senior clinical team to provide effective Clinical support to the team including:-
    • Input into MDT to support the effective management of referrals and case discussion
    • Direct involvement in risk management plans and support with case formulation.
    • Attendance at weekly MDT and involvement in team meetings including handover, business meeting, extended assessment formulation meeting.
    • Support the care and management of the most complex cases where risk and vulnerability require a full MDT decision.
    • The assessment, formulation/diagnosis/treatment of service users including the most complex cases.
    • To be the responsible clinician for the teams including this role with all CTO service users.
    • To be an expert resource on the psychiatric assessment, treatment and management.
    • To complete electronic patient records to a high standard in a contemporaneous manner.
    • To follow prescribing guidance and completion of the FP10 tracker.
    • To work collaboratively engaging with all key stake holders and being an ambassador for the teams and their values.


To support MHA assessments and the team flexibly to ensure least restrictive care and treatment for service users.

  • To fulfil their role as part of a multi-disciplinary team working in partnership with NSCHT teams and external agencies and partners.
  • To take part and deliver clinical supervision to ensure professional, reflective, evidenced based care in being delivered.
