Trust StR Lower (Non-training) in Plastic Surgery

Contract: Full time, 6 months Fixed Term

Please apply via NHS Jobs.

We seek to appoint a Trust StR Lower (non- training), to retain our complement of junior grades. This is a fixed term appointment for 6 months.

Derriford Hospital in Plymouth sits between the coast and Dartmoor allowing doctor's optimal work/life balance in a truly beautiful setting. The low cost of living allows junior doctors to live in flats with a sea view, within easy access of the hospital.

Expansion of the Consultant numbers now provides a high level of supervision and training across a broad range of sub-specialties. These include burns, trauma, breast reconstruction, hand surgery, sarcoma surgery, paediatric plastic surgery, skin malignancy, and head and neck surgery.

Derriford Hospital is now an accredited major trauma centre and a designated burn facility. This post is intended for those who have not been selected to the National Higher Medical training program and who need further clinical experience. The post holder will act as a StR Lower, who will see and triage acute referrals from the hospital and GP's, review patients in an outpatient setting and assist in their treatment including minor surgical procedures. It is desirable although not essential that candidates have obtained the MRCS and possess experience in Plastic Surgery. Each candidate should have achieved F2 level competences and show specific enthusiasm for Plastic Surgery for higher surgical training.

If you wish to avail yourself of this opportunity, please contact Karen Attis, Department Secretary on 01752 439633.
