Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) provides inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bath and North East Somerset(B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire. We also provide specialist services extending throughout the South West.

This Speciality Doctor post has been developed to provide support to the two Consultant Psychiatrists and mental health teams within the Prison Mental Health Service in AWP Mental Health NHS Trust. It will enhance the medical support offered by the service, which is developing rapidly, in response to national and local treatment strategies.
The Prison Mental Health Services include five Prisons in the region - HMPs Bristol, Eastwood Park, Erlestoke, Leyhill, and Ashfield. The Speciality Doctor will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary teams in the prisons and will provide direct patient care through patient assessment and reviews and consultative advice to the teams and partner agencies, as required.
There will be regular opportunities to contribute to multi-disciplinary teaching and training, audit, quality improvement projects and research and development.
Training opportunities for foundation doctors, core and advanced trainees within the service are well established and the Speciality Doctor would be encouraged to play a formative part in their training and supervision.
We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible candidates who are committed to working in a multidisciplinary setting. This post attracts 8.5 Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 Supporting professional activities and offer excellent CPD and study leave arrangements as well as good research, service development and leadership opportunities.
