Job Details

We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic and committed Physician Associates to join the Same Day Emergency Care / Acute Medicine team at Ysbyty Gwynedd. This is to support the Same Day Emergency Care Unit and the AMU on a rotational basis, providing an excellent patient experience for all our patients.

As a Physician's Associate you will provide care for patients including clinical assessments, diagnosis and treatment under the mentorship of a Consultant. The successful candidates will be autonomous, team players and will be expected to work with the wider practice team of Consultants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Junior Doctors and other Allied Health Professionals to provide high quality, safe and effective clinical care and to deliver services to meet the need of the patients. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team you will be required to undertake physical assessment and history taking of patients including coordinating patients on ambulatory pathways related to their speciality and provide immediate care and initiate treatment as per clinical pathways. The ability to multi-task and to work under pressure is essential and you must also be adaptable to a varied and high volume workload.

It would be envisaged that the role would be developed flexibly over time in accordance with the appointees' clinical interests and in line with the needs of the service. The post holders will be expected to participate in quality improvement work, clinical governance activity and patient experience projects.

The department has a strong emphasis on education and the candidate will be expected to participate in weekly learning events with clinical colleagues and teach students. Diversification of roles is encouraged with the option to take on a more formal role in clinical education as part of a mutually agreed job-plan.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
