Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon based at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. The post will have responsibility in providing Emergency support and treatments and inpatient work in Grange University Hospital. The successful candidate will join the remaining Consultants in the provision of the routine Oral and Maxillofacial surgery services within the department.
The OMFS Directorate has dedicated outpatient and day case facilities in the Royal Gwent, Nevill Hall Hospitals. The existing department in the Royal Gwent Hospital has been open for 22 years, with six consultation and two treatment rooms.
The successful candidate will join the Four existing Consultants, 1 Specialist Registrar, 1 Core Trainee, 4 Specialty Doctors and 8 Junior Doctors in the provision of the specialist and routine oral and maxillofacial surgery services within the department. A full range of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is carried with a complement of 4 inpatient beds and Specialist theatre facilities in Grange University Hospital and dedicated day case theatres in the Royal Gwent Hospital. Close relationships are maintained with ENT, Restorative Dentistry, Radiotherapy, Pathology and Dermatological Departments. There is an active Postgraduate Centre.
The suitably qualified clinician will have the opportunity to join a 1:5 on call rota.

Applicants must hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC
Candidates for Consultant posts must also be on the GMC Specialist Register (including via CESR/European Community Rights) or will have a CCT/CESR(CP) date within 6 months of interview and possess a Certificate of Accreditation or have eligibility for CST in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery..
