Here at Somerset NHS FT, we are inviting applications for a NIHR Clinical Research Fellow (ST3+) to join our Oncology department. This post is a for a 12-month fixed term contract.
You will be joining a cohesive and progressive oncology team with a strong reputation for clinical excellence. We have an excellent reputation for research, and we expect the successful post holders to develop and enhance their skills during their tenure. We are looking for dynamic individuals who have completed their Core Medical Training Programme training and have experience of working in the NHS.
The Oncology department consists of 9 clinical oncologists, 4 medical oncologists, 1 associate specialist and 2 specialty doctors. We also have ST4 + doctors rotating through specialty training (from Bristol). All consultants provide on call cover for oncology patients and there is a fully functioning acute oncology service. We cover most cancer sites with the exception of rarer cancers such as sarcomas or brain tumours.

We are seeking to appoint a NIHR Clinical Research Fellow to Oncology.
The aim of this new post is to facilitate recruitment to NIHR studies and other clinical trials, supervise departmental studies and maintain and progress clinical skills
You will be expected to facilitate patient entry into National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) studies, undertake and promote research activities, supervise the running of commercial studies, collaborate with the R&D department in particular in relation to NIHR studies, support other interested junior doctors and AHPs to gain Good Clinical Practice training. You will also be required to participate in relevant oncology clinics and MDTs, liaise with relevant clinical staff to coordinate the care of the unwell oncology trials patients and work closely with the principal investigators and research nurses.
