Our department has an ambitious programme of recovery following the COVID pandemic. Our aim is to have our diagnostic capabilities at the centre of transforming health care for our patients. This appointment along with several other Consultant Radiologist posts forms a central part of strengthening our department to have a clinically led diagnostics transformation programme. Joining our team will enable you to be part of improving health care, ensuring patients receive more timely diagnostics and interventions and implementing pathway changes in line with our organisational strategy.

Applications are welcomed from Consultant Radiologists who share our passion and enthusiasm for excellent service and who are keen to join an enthusiastic, engaged and growing tertiary centre.

Within the job plan it is recognised that Consultant Radiologists in the directorate work together as a team co-operating to provide efficient cover for duties that include responding to urgent clinical queries and emergencies, sharing of plain film reporting, supervision and training of radiology trainees on both the Llandough and University Hospital of Wales sites, and the supervision and teaching of radiographers / sonographers at both locations. The successful candidate will contribute to the weekly MDT meetings.

The appointee will provide added support for an increasing workload and will deliver a professional and integral service as part of a dynamic and skilled team. The appointment is due to expansion in service needs and to continue to provide excellence across multiple sub-specialties.

We have strong research and development opportunities and academic interests and aspirations will be encouraged in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine.

We have a flexible approach too as although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements dependent on the organisation's needs.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £82,356 per annum to £106,920 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.

Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
